PhonicsQ Phonics System

PhonicsQ Phonics System
PhonicsQ is an exciting new phonics system for classroom or home use. Just as students need to have a comfortable familiarity with numbers in order to do math, they need such familiarity with letters and sounds to read and write. PhonicsQ is designed to provide consistent visual cues to help students remember the sounds of the letters and letter combinations. Includes flash cards, 4 full size color posters, phonics audio cassette, black line (reproduceable) master handout sheets and manual.
$139.95
PhonicsQ includes dozens of large, colorful flashcards and 4 full-size color posters.

PhonicsQ provides the missing link for students who need a structure for recognizing and remembering the individual sounds within words. The PhonicsQ system develops phonemic awareness as it puts it into practice. The use of PhonicsQ is analogous to the use of a multiplication table in math.

PhonicsQ is based on these premises:

  • Phonemes come together to make words and these sounds are coded into written language.
  • Students must have an awareness of these sounds (phonemic awareness) as a key to reading success.
  • Phonics instruction is a valuable tool in developing phonemic awareness.
  • The constancy and reliability in written language can be recognized. Component parts should be taught as a body of knowledge.
  • Phonic analysis is an essential strategy for decoding unknown words.
  • Phonics instruction first addresses the big picture and then quickly progresses from the single to the complex unit; after the teacher familiarizes the student with the whole word, the individual sounds within words are highlighted and their representative graphemes are presented.
  • Some students cannot use their short-term memory of written symbols (letters) to effectively decode words and, therefore, must rely on other techniques. Nothing is more natural than providing a picture cue to help cue both whole words and individual sounds.
