Is the product easy to use? What about tech support? You can start using Global Writer immediately upon installation. Detailed on-line help is available as a reference for advanced features. In order to keep the pricing low, there is no free telephone support.
Can I mix languages? Any combination of languages can be mixed. You must purchase the CD version of Global Writer to mix languages from different scripts.
Why can't I just use Windows language support? We make it easy to type languages with our virtual keyboard. And we include Windows standard keyboards as well as phonetic to English keyboards so that it is easy to type foreign languages such as Arabic, Hebrew or Hindi without learning a new keyboard layout. As well, we support mixing any combination of languages such as German, Turkish, and Arabic and include proper support for right to left languages in US Windows.
Does it translate? No. You must know the language to type it.
Who is Unitype? Unitype Inc. is the manufacturer of Global Writer. Unitype Inc. is located on Mercer Island, Washington (a beautiful location between Seattle and Bellevue.) The company is headed up by Ken Fowles who served as Vice President of Accent Software and was the Program Manager for Internationalization of Internet Explorer at Microsoft. And quite a few of the people at Unitype Inc. came from Gamma Productions Inc. of San Diego, California when Unitype Inc. acquired licenses to Gamma's technologies.
