Luzoe This reader is intended for a student of the Myanmar language who has mastered the alphabet primer and wishes to pursue a course leading to an appreciation of Myanmar literature by starting with journalistic literature on a variety of subjects. Fifty-two selections are included from two Myanmar dailies in Yangon, The New Light of Myanmar and The Mirror issued during May to October 1995. Each selection consists of the Myanmar text, a vocabulary list, notes, and the English translation. There is a cumulative glossary, as well as a description of the Myanmar alphabet and appendices of numbers, months and days, abbreviations, etc. With five 90 min. audio cassette recordings of the articles read by a native speaker. 1996, 308 pages, hardbound.
