Michael Pitt has joined Hannibal as a new foe for Dr. Lecter, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Pitt will play Mason Verger, an unstable, wealthy patient of Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), a role originated by Gary Oldman in the 2001 film Hannibal. When Verger is introduced late into the second season of the NBC show, he will develop a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with the cannibal killer.
