Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, whose breakthrough hit “Same Love” advocates for same-sex marriage, turned their focus to a new social issue at the American Music Awards Sunday: racial profiling.
The duo, who won Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist as well as Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album (for The Heist), accepted the awards via a satellite feed from a tour stop in Florida. Macklemore eschewed a typical thank-you speech in favor of speaking out against racial profiling.
