Romney, the man running on the platform that he is supposedly smarter than you or I with money, spent $18 million last month and raised only 6 million!
In other-words Romney spent three times as much in as he took in. Yet he is not worried! His billionaire buddies spent another $6 million on his behalf last month. That means that a few people all worth no less than a million dollars, and most worth more than a 100 million dollars will air as many Romney ads as all the rest of his donors combined. Free speech is still legal, but paid-for speech is dominated by the super-rich, partially due to the campaign rule changes the same super-rich engineered over the last decade. Now 1000 people can donate $100 each for a total of $100,000 and then buy a few ads with that money. At the same time one super wealthy person (in some cases living off of the interest paid to them by the same 1000 people in this example) could simply start a super-pac, give the super-pac $5 million, and run 50 times the ads that the same 1000 people were able to manage. The language used in these messages is often hostile and generally not focusing on making positive changes for the working class.
We propose that everybody refrains from watching these advertisements and instead talks to friends, neighbors, follows social media, finds quality blogs and newspapers, and makes up his/her own mind.
